Slow Code – I Don’t Listen to Music

Slow Code – I Don’t Listen to Music

The Liverpool-based quartet RISE, joined once again by stayMellow (Sam Kinley), has delivered a powerhouse of a track with their latest single, “Always.” Right from the jump, the song hits you with a vibrant 80s energy, leaning into lush synth layers and driving guitar work that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly sharp.

Lyrically, the track serves as a sincere promise of loyalty, offering a “light in the dark” sentiment that hits home without feeling cheesy. The production is incredibly crisp, allowing Paul Kinley’s keyboards to shine alongside a rhythm section that keeps the momentum high-tempo and engaging. In my professional opinion, this is the most cohesive and polished work we have seen from the band to date, proving they have truly mastered the art of the melodic rock anthem. Between the soaring vocal hooks and Brian Petch’s precise guitar riffs, “Always” is an essential addition to any rock playlist this season.
