Jon Often – Always Down

Chicago-based artist Jon Often delivers something genuinely memorable with his single “Always Down,” a refreshing blend of indie pop, alternative R&B, and heartfelt songwriting. Known for his drumming work with Beach Bunny and Latter, Jon Alvarado steps confidently into his own musical identity, showing that his talent extends well beyond the drum kit.

“Always Down” carries a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, with bright guitars, smooth melodies, and a steady rhythm that gives the song an easygoing charm. His vocals feel personal and sincere, bringing out the emotions behind the music without making anything sound forced. The production is clean and thoughtfully arranged, allowing the instruments and melodies to complement each other beautifully.

What I particularly enjoy about this track is how naturally it balances a cheerful musical energy with a quieter sense of longing. That contrast gives the song its character and makes repeated listens worthwhile.

With “Always Down,” Jon Often proves he has a strong ear for melody and an appealing artistic direction. It’s a lovely release that deserves attention from indie music fans everywhere.
