Timothy Obrien Wells – I don’t Believe it.
There is something refreshing about a song that doesn’t need a grand statement to catch your attention. Timothy Obrien Wells makes that point with “I Don’t Believe It,” a new single whose title alone opens the door to doubt, surprise, and the complicated business of trusting what we hear.
What appeals to me most is the directness of the idea. Those four words sound like something anyone might say in the middle of a difficult conversation, and that familiarity gives the release an inviting starting point. Rather than dressing the song up with an elaborate story about what it must mean, I think its strength as a release lies in how readily listeners can bring their own experiences to it.
At just over two and a half minutes, “I Don’t Believe It” also makes a case for keeping things concise. There’s value in an artist knowing when to leave an impression without overstaying the welcome. For me, this is a promising addition to Timothy Obrien Wells’s growing catalog, and a title worth remembering as more listeners discover his work.
