Mins – MHSFH

Amsterdam-born, Liverpool-based artist Mins (Minne Bussemaker) has returned with a refreshingly candid new single, ‘MHSFH’—an acronym for ‘My Homie Straight From Hell’. Moving away from the dense, metaphorical layers of his earlier work like SkinDeep, this track embraces a directness that feels both vulnerable and coolly detached. The production is classic bedroom pop at its finest: stripped-back, lo-fi, and subtly infused with folk-inspired warmth that keeps the listener anchored throughout the runtime.

Mins navigates the messy reality of a friend sabotaging their own relationship to chase a connection he simply isn’t ready for. It is a ‘superficial’ scenario, as he calls it, yet it resonates because of its blunt, honest edge. I find the way he balances the track’s laid-back rhythm with such a sharp, relatable narrative to be absolutely brilliant and deeply engaging. As we look forward to his upcoming EP later this year, ‘MHSFH’ stands as a clear proof of the power found in simple, effective songwriting.
