Backsprint – Thank God for Music
Backsprint’s “Thank God for Music” feels like a toast to the one thing that can make a difficult day easier to carry. The Belgrade country-rock band, led by songwriter and vocalist Uroš Jojić, keeps the message simple: when life gets noisy, music gives us somewhere to turn.
Built around a gently rolling 6/8 rhythm, the single has the easy movement of a song meant to be played with friends rather than polished behind closed doors. Its country warmth and rock spirit sit comfortably together, while the live recording approach leaves room for the musicians to sound like people sharing a moment. There’s no need for studio tricks when the feeling comes across this clearly.
What I like most is that Backsprint never makes gratitude sound like a grand speech. They treat it as something familiar, the kind of thought that hits when a favorite song comes on at exactly the right time. “Thank God for Music” is cheerful without being shallow, heartfelt without pushing too hard. It’s a welcome reminder of why we all keep pressing play.
