Kelly Hunt – Clouds
Kelly Hunt brings a refreshing sense of freedom to her single “Clouds,” a charming folk song that finds meaning in the simplest moments. Released through Compass Records, the track captures the beauty of an open road while exploring how easily our thoughts and perceptions can change.
Inspired by a drive across the Midwest, “Clouds” turns an ordinary encounter with the sky into a thoughtful reflection on life’s uncertainties. Hunt’s gentle, expressive vocals feel natural against Dirk Powell’s lively fiddle, warm acoustic instrumentation, and Amelia Powell’s lovely backing harmonies. The arrangement has an easygoing rhythm that gives the song movement without taking attention away from its message.
What I particularly enjoy about “Clouds” is how effortlessly Hunt combines meaningful songwriting with a genuinely uplifting musical atmosphere. There’s something comforting about its honesty, as though she’s reminding us that even our biggest worries can look different with a little perspective.
Taken from her album Requiem for a Sleepless Night, “Clouds” is a wonderful example of Hunt’s storytelling talent and her ability to make traditional folk music feel personal, inviting, and beautifully alive.
