Ruby Greenberg – I Carry You

Ruby Greenberg – I Carry You

Ruby Greenberg has a gift for making a familiar feeling sound worth hearing again. On “I Carry You,” the Colorado-born singer-songwriter turns the ties we keep with people into a bright, easygoing folk song that never loses sight of its emotional center.

Acoustic guitar gives the track its steady pulse, while Greenberg’s clear, welcoming voice brings the words close. There’s a lovely lift to the chorus, but she doesn’t push for a grand moment. Instead, the song grows through small choices in the arrangement, allowing its message of loyalty and remembrance to land naturally. I particularly like how the upbeat rhythm leaves room for reflection; it captures the way good memories can make us both wistful and hopeful.

Released as the opening track of her five-song EP The Light Behind, “I Carry You” makes a strong introduction to Greenberg’s thoughtful approach to songwriting. Its roots in classic folk are easy to hear, yet the performance feels personal rather than borrowed. This is the kind of song I’d happily return to on a drive, especially when old friends come to mind.
