Tan Brown – Freedom, Pt. 2
Tan Brown finds a kind of confidence on “Freedom, Pt. 2,” a song that feels less like an escape and more like coming home. Built around a deep bassline and an easy reggae rhythm, the track draws on Lover’s Rock without losing Brown’s character. Her voice sits comfortably in the mix, carrying warmth and conviction rather than pushing for a dramatic moment.
There’s a history behind the music, too. Brown first developed the song from a freestyle written years ago, when she was still deciding whether music would become her path. Now based in Berlin, with roots in Queens and Jamaica, she brings those experiences together naturally.
As the closing track on her five-song EP For The End, “Freedom, Pt. 2” offers a fitting answer to the record’s questions about connection, identity, and knowing when to put yourself first. I especially like how unhurried it feels; the groove has room to breathe, and so does the message. It’s a thoughtful, welcoming release that makes Brown’s direction worth following, and one I can imagine returning to long after the first listen.
